Assyst opens tests in the QST, QSZ and QSZE formats on Android and iOS phones and tablets. No sign-up is needed, and a test can be taken offline.
How to open a file on your phone
- Install Assyst from the App Store, Google Play or AppGallery.
- Open the file in one of these ways:
- in the app, tap "Add test" and choose "Load from file";
- if the file is on the internet, choose "Load file from URL" and paste the link;
- if the file came in a messenger or by email, open it from there and choose Assyst.
- The test appears in your test list. You can take it as a practice test or an exam, or study it with flashcards.
QST
QST is a plain text file with questions and answer options. It can be opened and edited in any text editor.
Each line starts with a sign: "?" before a question, "+" before a correct answer, "-" before a wrong answer. A question can have several correct and wrong answers, in any order.
? Which planet is closest to the Sun?
+ Mercury
- Venus
- Mars
? Which of these planets are gas giants?
+ Jupiter
+ Saturn
- Earth
To make a test in a text editor, type the questions by this rule and save the file with the .qst extension. Assyst also opens a .txt file with the same markup. The UTF-8, UTF-16 and Windows-1251 encodings are supported, so files from the Assist desktop program open too.
"Paste text" in the app understands the same signs: you can paste or type a test right there, and the text editor checks the lines and suggests fixes.
QSZ and QSZE
QSZ and QSZE are binary formats: such files are written by a program, not by hand. QSZ, the format of the Assist desktop program, stores questions and answers. QSZE is the format of the app: it also keeps question types, categories, hints and images. To send a test with images, choose QSZE.
A test in Word, PDF or a photo
Assyst does not open such files, but it helps turn them into a test through an AI chat. In the "Add test" menu, choose "Create with AI": the app gives you a ready prompt. Send it to an AI chat with the file and paste the answer into the text editor. The app offers the same prompt when you try to open such a file.
How to send a test
A test can be exported from the app to QST, QSZ or QSZE or packed into a ZIP archive and sent via a messenger or email.
